Save The Bees
Worldwide bee populations are in decline, including the honeybee and many other wild bees. Very few people understand why bees are so important to the environment. Bee’s and other pollinating insects play an essential role in ecosystems.
Other reasons why bees are important!!
A third of all our food depends on pollination
Other species are dependent on bees to survive, because of their food sources, including nuts, berries, seeds, and fruits, which rely on insect pollination
Plants need bees to pollinate
Bee-killing pesticides in particular pose the most direct risk to pollinators. The main reasons for global bee-decline are linked to industrial agriculture, parasites/pathogens and climate change. The loss of biodiversity due to monocultures and the widespread use of bee-killing pesticides are particular threats for honeybees and wild pollinators.
· Widespread use of pesticides, neonicotinoids and GMOs
· Climate change
· Loss of habitat, including land use changes, habitat fragmentation, loss of bio-diversity
· Bees forced into service; monoculture
· Pests diseases, viruses, and mold
